Kilomarathon

Kilomarathon, I hadn't heard of that upto now, its apparently 26.2 kilometers rather than the normal 26.2 miles.

Edinburgh has one and no doubt other places as well, it's a bit more than 16 miles so a bit more than a HM.

So anyone wanting to run a full 26 mile marathon could begin with 5K, then 10K, next 10 miles, after that go for a half marathon then this new distance of 26,2 km and finally the king of them all, a full 26.2 mile marathon. 😊 πŸƒ Good luck for your running journey.

Never seen the term, but I have seen metric marathon... there’s one in Chester in the autumn I think. The metric mile (1500m) has a lot to answer for πŸ˜‚

Yes, I agree with you regarding the metric mile, I don't think that there are many of those 26.2 Kilometre marathons up and down the country, however, the might gain popularity in the coming years. . 😊

It will, and it could be an event with just regular runners... elite HM guys are probably running further... and much as they’re good to watch on tv, I’d rather line up without them to be honest.

I couldn't imagine running 26.2km then again never thought I'd run 5k so you never know 😊

Yes that is true Buddy 34, that 26.2k is a sort of another step up the ladder from a HM to a full one. 😊 πŸƒ

As I said to Buddy34, a Kilomarathon (26.2 Kilometres/16 miles) is a step up the running ladder from a HM to a full 26.2 MILE marathon, who knows it might catch on and become more popular in a few years time. To be honest with you Floss I hadn't heard of it up to I read about running events in Edinburgh.

Uh oh! Off to google that .... I've sworn I won't do a marathon. I'm sure I don't have that in me. I think it's the huge jump from HM that makes it too much to contemplate. But . This ...

Hmmm ...

That's right - my HM today is just four parkruns and a bit of a sprint if I'm lucky! πŸ˜€

Good luck to you Linda for your four park runs HM today, the weather looks fine for it, you may even get a half marathon PB.

Maybe! It's very windy (side on I think) and very cold and there's a big climb which may see me off before 3 miles, but if that's not too bad you never know!!!! If not, well I have my excuses ready right there πŸ˜€

half marathon is exactly 13.109 miles.

kilomarathon is exactly 16.28 miles so it is possible that you could run that distance, Linda.

It seems Edinburgh is only 13.1k this year. But Chester do a 26.2k race in October. It clashes with Oxford HM. But it's now in my sights for next year. I've added it to my calendar as a reminder this October as there looks to be a small 'earlybird' registration window. See what you've started ?!!! πŸ˜€
