Hi, I'm into week 4 and surprisingly enjoying the new adventure. I'm 60 this year and after running around after my granddaughter I realised I needed to get fit. I sit at a desk all day. I've always been skinny and can eat anything and everything but a recent blood test shows my blood pressure is borderline high and I'm eating to much chocolate, crisps, butter, biscuits etc and oh too much alcohol!!! Ive read some comments on here and can relate to many if not all of you. I go out at 0530 to avoid being embarrassed although I know I shouldn't be. My first run was a disaster. I never do anything slow but the first 60 seconds run was more like a slow sprint and I was struggling but I continued and in my 4th week second run this morning (0527) and its feeling good. I still cannot imagine running 5k but the guys at work are very supportive. I look forward to sharing my experiences and reading about everyones successes.

You can always slow down! There’s a large cohort of us 🐌 on here! So if you struggle as the durations increase, learn to run slowly. I love the Japanese slow jogging technique (there’s a short film on youtube) it’s there if you need it!

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Enjoy your journey.

You are going to be fabulous at this. You have reached week 4 already, which is a huge achievement in itself. I will be starting week 4 next week. Slow and steady is my motto and hopefully I'll achieve my 5K by 50.

Good luck. Looking forward to hearing how you get on!

Happy running!

Welcome and great job. You’re certainly lucky with your metabolism! This should bring the blood pressure down nicely. It’s hard to imagine running 5k... you could mention it to an Olympic sprinter and see the fear in their eyes 😂. It starts as impossible, but pretty soon now it will only be challenging, and you’ve proved you are up for a challenge in doing the hard weeks of this plan. Enjoy your journey
