Starting week 3 tonight, and the thought of running for 3 minutes straight is making me feel nervous and kinda dreading it?! I just can’t imagine running for that long and my legs still being attached to my body?! 😂 HELP!
WK3R1 scared!!!: Starting week 3 tonight, and... - Couch to 5K
WK3R1 scared!!!
That was me, it really was, and I ran for 26.5 minutes (by mistake!) the other night! You don’t believe anyone when they say you’ll manage it- you just have to do it then feel the rush. You’ll manage it- believe me.
Let us know how you get on 😊
The programme is carefully designed to prepare you for each run so you're ready for it because you've done the runs before. Simples 🙂
Take a big breath, run slowly and enjoy the epic feeling when you finish 💪 You'll be absolutely fine.
Slow down. You can do it. The programme's structured build-up gets you to the next level but each extension of running time will stretch you. Runners all get the same feeling of "Can I do it?" as they get close to each new milestone. Don't be afraid of failure either, just redo a run if you cut it short or even go back a week to consolidate. It takes time for the heart and lungs and legs to progress to a new fitness level, and you have to ask a bit more of yourself at each level. Believe me, people have gone on from c25k to running 10km (1 hour + of running) and beyond and we have all had the same concerns as you in the early runs. I too found the early part of c25k hardest personally, and have gone on to run longer distances. You can do it.
You will do it I promise you once you start and take note of the advice from the in app motivator coach believe me you’ll wonder what you was worrying about - you go 👍
Each week felt like that to me - and still I could never resist peeking at the next one when I finished the last! 😂 And eventually I learned to relax and accept the challenge, and then life was much less fraught. It really is about the cumulative effect over time and the programme has been well & truly tested (by me, among others! What could possibly go wrong?) as long as you don’t rush, you’ll do it. Enjoy the fact that this is a good weather week (if you are UK-based.) 🌞👍
It’s honestly not as bad as you think it’ll be, I did it on Friday n it was fine. In fact I was somewhat disappointed as the whole run seemed to pass really quickly! Just take it slow n you’ll be fine. Best of luck!
Thanks for the advise! That’s funny you say that, I thought 3 minutes were gonna feel like forever but I was shocked at how quick it went! Thanks again 😌🙌🏼
You’re welcome 😊. Glad you got through it ok. After spending a few weeks reading posts in here, I’ve decided to not dread any of them but to look forward to them instead. The more experienced folk are quick to reassure us that the programme is designed to build us up gradually n that we are capable of each increase. I figure they must know what they’re talking about so I’m taking them at their word 😁
You’re ready for that run... you can do it. You’ll be running 30 minutes in just a few more weeks. Get yourself nice and relaxed before you go... tell yourself that you can do this during the warmup, out loud if it helps... then set off on that run nice and slowly and ease into your happy/comfortable rhythm... go and amaze yourself.
Don't fear any run.

You can do this.
