Too icy still

I haven’t been able to run since Thursday as we had a lot of snow that then became horrible compacted ice. I left work at 3:30 today, in lovely sunny Merthyr Tydfil. It was so beautiful and clear, and about 8 degrees. Would have been perfect, but I was in work clothes and at the top of a very big hill! By the time I had driven home it was dark and miserable 😥. However, I put my kit on and off I went. The first few minutes were horrible as usual but 10 minutes in I was feeling great (2 seconds off my personal best for that stretch says Strava), then I turned a corner onto the cycle track and hit a big patch of unmelted frozen slippyness. I ran on the grass around it until it cleared but as I went along the track I found the still frozen patches were getting bigger and the grass was very uneven, or not there at all. I found I was having to walk more than I could run because it was just too dangerous to risk running on. Eventually I decided to just head home. I did 2.6 km in the end which I guess is better than no run at all, I do feel better for having been out, but disappointed that I couldn’t do more. Hopefully I will be fresh enough to try again tomorrow,

Well done getting out there... and a great decision to abort the run. Only the ice stopped you... and it’s better to end it then on your terms than to slip and get an injury that ends your running for weeks/months. Don’t be disappointed, be proud in several ways.
