I wasn't sure how I would do for the 25 mins run on w6r3. After having a sore thigh last weekend I rested extra and was wondering whether to repeat run 2 which had the rest walk between two runs.
But I figured I might as well give it a go! The worst that could happen is I would have to stop and walk. Which is still exercise so still a win.
When Sarah said it's been five minutes I was wondering how on earth I was going to do 20 whole minutes more! Half way I was sure I wasn't going to make it. Part of my trek is a minor hill and I was sure I was slower than if I was walking! My brain was alternating between well dones, you can't do it, and random thoughts.
However I think my body was in a good rhythm the whole way and all the hard work was in my mind! I didn't feel out of breathe. Just nice big even in out breathes in a controlled manner.
Suddenly Sarah says you have one minute left and I don't know how I got from five minutes seeming too much to 24 minutes having flown by?
And she says if you feel up to it you can pick up the pace for the last minute. Which I did. And enjoyed!
Then it's the jelly legs walking five minutes home! With the knowledge that I can now run regularly following this pattern -5 mins walk, 25mins run-5mins walk. If the program ended here I would be satisfied.
I am pleased to see all of week 7 is repeating this pattern and then week 8 and 9 is building upon that stamina and pushing that little extra upto 30 mins.
The finishing post is in sight.....I cannot believe it's so close!
And after? I guess distance and speed is the next goals... To try to build up to 5k in 30 minutes...
