Today I should have done W1R2 but instead I was invited on a family walk. It was up some very steep mountain paths, and down again. We totalled 7K. There wasn't a suitable path to run on either. When I got back I couldn't face my run. My question is on Saturday do I do run 2 or 3?
7k walk : Today I should have done W1R2 but... - Couch to 5K
7k walk
I would suggest R2 as it’s best not to miss a run as the program steadily builds endurance and your walk although great exercise does not have the same impact on your body as a run
Run 2 for my money. I stuck to the sequence rigidly on the basis that it was an integral part of the plan. With the major qualification of "if your legs feel up to it after your hike" there is no reason why you shouldn't do run 2 tomorrow and run 3 on Sunday of course. I sometimes had to skip a day while on holiday so, occasionally, I just left two days between runs instead of one to fit in. Running every day is the big no-no. 😊If your legs are really tired, I would leave run 2 until Saturday; no sense in risking an injury.
Definitely run 2. And if your legs are still tired or stiff after today’s demanding walk, take an extra day to rest and run on Saturday. You’re putting new demands on your body and it needs time to adjust. Enjoy it when you get there x
Sounds great.
A seven kilometre walk does not replace a C25k workout.
Your C25k weeks do not have to coincide with calendar weeks, as mentioned in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Pick up wher you left off.
Run 2 for sure... we need the running action to develop the muscles. That walk is great though, so don’t think you’ve missed a run, some good hill walking will help a lot... you could go and do the run tomorrow if you like, but a good decision to not follow a hard walk with a run today.
Great. I now have a concensus of opinion and will do r2 on either Friday or Sat pm, legs permitting. Can't wait to see results...
