Mapmyrun advice

I did a run last night of about 20 minutes to try and get back into the swing of things after a nasty chest virus.

I started the run on Mapmyrun and when I checked it afterwards it reported I’d run for 1 minute 🤔

I then checked my fitness watch which said 24 minutes (more like it), which then somehow reduced to 20 minutes when I checked it again today!

I’ve got an iPhone 5s so maybe it’s to do with the fact that it’s old (have updated all apps and IOS today).

Anyone had similar, or recommend a more reliable tracker? I want one that records pace, times maps the route etc

I use the Endomondo app. It does all of the above, pace is given per km. 😃

Ah ok not heard of that one! I just want something that’s reliable but again, not sure if it’s my phone rather than the App!

With technology changing so much nowadays a device that you bought 5 years ago is outofdate now, I found that happened to me with the Smartphone I bought in 2011. I got a new Smartphone in August 2018 and what a difference it makes in everything I do including running. The old phone which I still have has 2GB whereas the new one has everything under the sun and 64GB. I find Mapmyrun very reliable with my new phone but not with my old phone.

Ah ok, as I suspected! I’m thinking maybe I’ll upgrade my phone!

Hi Lizzog, I’m glad you are on the mend. I use Mapmyrun on the same type of phone. Mostly it works fine, occasionally it carves off a third of a km, but I know the distance of familiar routes, so I just roll eyes & estimate when that happens. - I don’t want to be too focused on the data, but it is interesting looking at the big picture over time! 😀

Yes it’s just really to check on how (or if!) I’ve improved. I think a Garmin type watch might be on my wish list 🤗

Hi

I use the Nike Run app when not in the gym and I like the fact it calls out each completed kilometre over my music and also has good stats of the run,
