I’m exhausted

So... Today was my first run and I generally believed I was going to pass out towards the end. I’ve realised how unhealthy I am and it’s given me the push I needed to really dig down hard get fit.

I almost didn’t do the final 1 minute run but succeeded and I’m so happy.

I hope this gets easier as time goes on.

Happy new year everybody!

Well done! It will get a lot easier very quickly and within a few weeks you won’t believe how hard you found this first run...

The same for me today, not run for 30 years!!! But managed it with my teenager daughter who had it playing in her ears telling me then what to do😂 as I can’t stand headphones in my ears. Determined to continue with this, well done

Well done! It will get a lot easier as you build up stamina and that will happen surprisingly quickly! Good luck :)

Good job getting off your sofa and getting out there. You were defo running too fast by the sounds of it. Slow is best. There’s a guide on here on getting started and it’s essential reading.

I do remember how hard wk1 was and I thought I'd never do this , but I'm on wk8 now and had never run before so keep going good luck

You get stronger and that is how it moves on... well done you. Take it slow and steady and try to relax into the runs.

Non impact exercise on some of your rest days will help too.

If it’s any help... you thought you were gonna pass out... I thought run one was going to kill me... 8 times over. Before my (non-running) injury I could cover 5k without breaking sweat or breathing hard... so yeah it gets easier. I believe I’m twice your age too 😂

Keep the pace down, we are not racing yet. The plan will keep pushing you to increase your fitness level faster than you think is possible... so it will feel hard in the early weeks... just stay focused and committed to doing it, the benefits are huge.

You completed the run... be very proud... getting off the couch and to the start line is hard, and so is that run. Enjoy your journey.

The hardest part is getting off the couch and out the front door... you’ve done that so way ahead of those still sitting there eating and drinking 😂😂. I’m on week 7, I can remember the first run vividly!! After about 30 seconds of the first run I really thought I was going to die! In fact the last 2 runs of the 8 I didn’t completely finish. This morning I ran (at snails pace I might add) for 25mins non stop. If I can do it you can. Take it slow and steady and trust the programme. If you’re struggling to breath and think you can’t go any slower, you can and need to! This is the friendliest forum ever, imagine all of us running it with you (btw if it’s me I struggle to catch the snails so you’ll have to run slow 🤣🤣)! You can do this happy running 🏃‍♀️

Chloe, I'm starting Week 5 of C25K & it's doable (I'm 65 years old). Please persevere

It does get easier with time. Your body adapts and becomes more efficient as you add miles and distance. Play the long game and you will be amazed.
