I took it to heart, to run slowly. I graduated today, running less than 3k! However, I have been injury free and am grateful to be running at all, after having CFS/ME. Thanks to my physio for recommending C25K, and for recommending magnesium to alleviate muscle pain.
Have found I like running in the morning, in stillness and relative silence. I went out today in before dawn in our first frost and ran without wheezing, although I could see my breath. Going slowly, no puffing and panting that leads to a cough. Running has helped with low mood which I'm prone to in the dark months.
My goal was to graduate before our daughter came home from NZ for Christmas. I managed it, 1 1/2 hours before she walked through the door! Will tell my athletic son over Christmas and wait for the shocked look!
Told hubby he could start when I graduate. His turn now! Wowed by all the guided runs I've found in the Nike app. Not sure I could walk 5k yet, never mind run, but the next goal is the park run.
Thanks to this great group for such enthusiastic support.

Congratulations, next you will get your husband to begin C25K and also graduate in 9 weeks , that will be a big surprise for your athletic son as well.
Well done. I am also not that fast. But the truth is it doesn’t matter it’s the 30 minutes. And if I can recommend that you go for the Parkrun I can tell you I have throughly enjoyed the two I have done. I may be back the end of the group but you get bags of encouragement all the way around(in my case a 25 min chap I had been chatting to at the start came back after he finished, met me and jogged in with me over the last 1k) and the atmosphere is fantastic. As very much a solitary runner I enjoyed them far more than I
ever thought. Just have a go and don’t worry about speed - oh... and with the 30 minutes under your belt you will comfortably do the 5k with a mix of run and walk
