New shoes

I’ve been struggling a bit to do a full 30 mins non stop since I went back to work, I’m shattered. I’ve changed my running days, but also keep getting cramp, my calf’s scream and my nose keeps running like a tap so I need to stop only for a couple of paces, I’m doing 5k but with tiny breaks. After Wednesdays run I thought maybe I need to try new trainers. I bought a pair when I graduated the c25k programme, but call me a sentimental fool, I liked my old ones, we’d been through a lot together so I wasn’t ready to get rid of them 😆

So this morning on my run I tried my new shoes out and set off like a happy little bunny. They felt great, soft, cushined and generally better grip, which is not surprising, there’s not much left on the soles of the old ones. I was going great guns, still having to stop to blow my runny nose occasionally, but I was doing much better, until I hit 3k. The thing I’d forgotten about new shoes is they need breaking in. 🤦‍♀️ Idiot, so I had a great run, but now have no skin on the back of my ankles. Sunday’s run is going to need lots of plasters. 😂
