Well I’ve finally done it. It’s taken me about 18 weeks due to 4 calf injuries. But this morning, after a 4 week injury break which happened the last time I was going for my w9r3 run, I only went and did it.
I felt stronger, fitter and more ready than I ever have been. Thanks to all the help support and encouragement I’ve gained from the lovely people on this site. When the 30 minutes were up at 4.03k I felt I could have gone on for ever, so I did. I went on to complete 5k in 36:42mins. Whoop! Whoop! Whoop.
I’ve been following the advice given regarding resting, strengthening certain muscles, stretching and using a roller. It worked.
I’m so happy. At 60 years young, I’ve not run that far for probably 45 years.
Thanks so much for this site and for all of the help and support I’ve received. You all kept me going. You knew I could do it even if I didn’t.
NEVER GIVE UP.
Now, which queue do I join to collect my graduation certificate please?
It’s now onwards and upwards, consolidation for a few weeks, maybe a Park Run with my daughter, Focus on the exercises and then perhaps think about the B210K.
Thanks everyone, for everything.
Silver Runner.
