Glasses and rain

CrochetingScallywag profile image

Hiya any suggestions on how to run in the rain while wearing glasses and still be able to see? I'm blind without them and unable to wear contacts. I'm considering a diving mask but that might look a little silly.

Not a clue - I tend not to go if it’s really wet for the same reason. If anyone can suggest something I’d be grateful too !

You could nip into your opticians and see if they have water repellent that could be sprayed onto your glasses or at least recommend somewhere you could go.

Waterproof cap "might" help a little

I wear a running cap with a good sized peak on it, seems to work pretty well 😊

Hi there, I wear specs, I use a baseball/peak cap, works for me.....

Yes, just a baseball cap (or even a golfing visor, like a baseball cap without the cap part) will do the trick.

Hehe... now I can see Hugh Grant in the cinema.

Caps work and someone said something about polishing them with soap (I think, may have dreamed it)

Now I’m gonna have to get Notting Hill out of my head somehow!

Baseball running cap I find works well and with a built in sweatband helps with sweat running down and bothering the eyes, make sure it's washable..

Yep, I ran off with my daughter’s baseball cap - it did a great job. 😀

Unfortunately she now seems to have run off to uni with it - so yesterday was a half blind drowned rat run. 😂

I really hate baseball caps, but it seems that I have to buy one. 🙄

Excellent thanks- will I look less stupid than in a baseball cap??

...or is this like being a cyclist who hopes to avoid helmet hair?? 😀

I look great in mine :) Well I think so :) I do NOT look stupid and will run after anyone who laughs at me:)

Hahaha. 😀 I like hats but I seem to have the wrong-shaped head for baseball caps (plus hair in a bob, which is absolutely awful for any kind of exercise & sticks out horribly under caps). But maybe I'll give these a try. Thanks for the tip.

I’ve got the kind of head that hats bounce off of, so I don’t know if that would help. I suppose I’d get extra exercise going back for it lol ! Wiping the lenses lightly with washing up liquid reduces misting but doesn’t affect rain, sadly.

I've used this product on my glasses but only for walking rather than running. It is a bit like the RainX product you can use on car windscreens. The rain beads into small droplets and then runs off the glasses. Definitely helps

Cool... I may get some

Great post. I'd been wondering about this too, though so far I've managed to avoid the worst of the rain.

Hi .. I had the same problem .. I bought a baseball style cap over the summer whilst it was so hot and have found it works in the rain to keep it off my glasses. So something with a peak should do the trick.
