Well I have tried for last year to get further then week 3 before injury or pain stops me. I have arthritis in knees and planter fasheitis in one foot. So far this year so good. But have been advised to repeat weeks , may take longer but might have chance to get to week 9 . Don’t feel guilty but think about the success and achievement once you have got there. Running even little bits makes me feel free and energised.
Week 3 : Well I have tried for last year to get... - Couch to 5K
Week 3
Fantastic that you're keeping going! Every time we go out is better than staying in our couch!
I also have plantar and have found decent running shoes have helped a lot, also insoles for my every day shoes. I'm thinking about getting my gait analysed and really really proper running shoes if that turns up anything too.
Well done Runningbrave. Just take it at your own pace xxx
Well done for persevering through pain and injuries, I don't know if I could do the same !
I'm a fellow plantar fasciitis sufferer and I found I need to have just the right amount of arch support – too little and my feet hurt, too much and they hurt again. That was one of my main criteria for choosing my new trainers. I've not used them much yet (only three runs) but until now they're doing a good job of preventing both foot pain and knee pain.
I don’t know how the athletes and runners I see everywhere manage it. Good luck with your pain. I had to have some physio and an insert for my heel which has helped, they say up to a year to get better. I’m doing it gradually repeating weeks even if easy, it’s less strain on the body I will get to 5 k but may just take a bit longer. Good luck
