Strava lies!!!

Wtf??? Strava calculated my first 2K as 1K!!!!! Seriously annoyed, as this was my first 4K plus run. How did that happen??? 😠

Make sure auto-pause is turned off. There’s also some info on Strava support pages about gps issues and auto-pause. If you’re not likely to have to wait at crossings, you don’t need the function.

Auto pause was off as it calculated my first k at 14 mins, which should have been my first 2K. Not sure what happened. A Strava gremlin no doubt.

Ok... here’s what I think happened. GPS gives position and movement... time Strava just reads from your device. So gps is lost, Strava then misses 1k but not the time. It can work out your probable route, but their code doesn’t seem to back calculate. I’m of the opinion it must log the real movement as it sees it for its segments feature to work. Is the map of the run right?

Good call, you’re right. It’s missed out a whole section of my first k and then just drawn a straight line from where I started to where recording picked up, but clock still ticking. I was near some woods but done this route before with no issues. Thanks for help.

Gps and trees don’t like each other... for all our tech, a few leaves and nature wins... ask the train companies 😂

Runkeeper. Very simple and talks to you if you want it to. You can choose a voice. Some are quite funny. 😎

Like you say, I know what I did so well leave it at that for now. Does the Nike running app record distance and average km?

Yes it does. I run through the woods quite a bit, but I just take whatever it says as gospel. I have seen my average time change a bit oddly at the end of a run, but I really didn’t pay it a lot of attention. I think you should do this in whatever way motivates you. I definitely aimed for the 5k today. Just to remind myself that I can. 😉 ❤️
