W3R4 after a week off, I felt really apprehensive about carrying on. I felt like I’d lost my momentum a bit. That being said, on holiday I could feel how much fitter I’ve become. I wasn’t out of breath running up and down stairs, my legs felt strong. So I was really keen to keep that up. Even though I was due to carry on at W4R2, I decided to redo the W3 run. So glad I did, it was a struggle but I felt amazing at the end.
What made my day though was the lady on the treadmill next to me asked if I was doing C25K and I said how great it was, made for people who have never run. Then I said “ especially because I can’t run”. Afterwards I realised, that was an absolute lie. After 4 weeks, I CAN RUN. Still not very fast and still a maximum of 5 minutes, but I’m getting there. I watched her on the treadmill, making all the mistakes I used to make: running too fast then struggling to keep going, stopping dead to rest instead of keeping her legs moving.
She was someone who I would consider to be fit - slim, defined legs but (and I couldn’t believe this) I could outrun her. Even after a week off. It felt amazing to be able to offer advice to her and wish her the best of luck.
