I am such a happy chappy this morning.
8:15am I hit Gorleston seafront for a nice warm up. The sun is out, the sky is blue, there's not a cloud to spoil the view . . . . . hold on, there's a song in there some where!? And did I mention, it's very very, very warm. Not the best conditions for running, but here we are.
8:55am and I have been joined by Michael, he started these park runs things at the same time as me. Michael asks if it's ok to run with me today, of course I reply (I've got a running buddy - how cool is that!?).
9:00am and we're off! A nice steady pace, a gentle, if inadequate breeze blowing over the cliff tops and Michael and I (did I mention, he's my running buddy ) are settled into a comfortable pace.
9:15am (ish), half way and the time keeper suggests we are on a 00:30:20 pace. Michael (my RB - see we've even managed to get it down to a acronym now) and I are happy with the pace.
Now just 150m from the end, Michael (my former RB) gets the urge to sprint to the finish and sets off, not me I just stick with keeping the legs moving . . . . and we're over the line YAY!
11:15am . . . . . . the results are in (you can imagine a drum roll here if you like), 00:29:36 - 21 seconds off my previous PB OMG!
Michael (the swine), absolutely smashes his own PB, now I know how a pace setter feels. . . . . nah not really, I'm really pleased for him too! (Yes we're still RB's)
