10 days off, back on it big time.

It’s been a bit of a stop start time for me these last few weeks. I had finished W7R3 three weeks ago, but then I had to take a week off because of a minor calf injury.

After that I repeated Week 6, no problems. But then I went away for a week, tried a run but could not manage more than 5 minutes. The Aperol Spritz clearly didn’t help plus I was running at over 3000 ft on a mountain. Idiot.

Back now closer to sea level and I decided to repeat week 6 again. I set off this morning with the app running but then didn’t stop. I ignored all Laura’s cues and by the time I stopped my watch, I’d done 31 minutes, and run just under 4K.

Clearly I have work to do on my pace but I’m pleased not to have lost too much fitness these last three weeks.

As an aside, I’ve never been one for hiking even though I spend a lot of time in the mountains. I always refused to go with my partner. However this time I did two proper hikes, one shortish uphill walk to 5000ft, and a long one downhill for 2.5 hours. It’s amazing how C25K can motivate you to challenge yourself in other ways.

The hikes sound amazing. Treat yourself gently with your runs, after a calf injury it is even more important to build up slowly.
