Oops.... should have kept going.

I set out for another consolidation run last night, reluctantly!!! I've been leaving a bigger rest gap between runs since graduation as the legs seem to want to take longer to recuperate.

I really wasn't feeling it and didn't fancy going out at 9pm on a Saturday evening, the temp was still about 27 degrees and I'd not long finished eating a plate of Jerk Chicken and rice, but I knew that if I didn't force myself out there last night there was no way I'd squeeze a run into today, so off I set.

Given the mood, all I wanted was a 30 minute run under my belt. I didn't care about pace or completing a 5k distance , 30 slow minutes was enough for me.

So I set off at a nice easy pace and started up run keeper to give me time checks. It was a lovely easy pace that I settled into within the first 5 minutes, there was not a soul to be seen and the shade from the trees another added bonus. I kept plodding round for 30 enjoyable minutes and then started my warm down walk as per the plan. All in all not bad considering how I felt to start with and was walking along quite pleased with myself.

I wasn't until a little way into my warm down that I reached for my phone to see that run keeper was still going. By this time I was well into my warm down .walk and up it flashed up 5k completed and in a respectable 34 mins 4 secs too. Turns out my pace wasnt bad after all and at the 30 minute mark I only had another 400mtrs to go to get to the 5k!!! I'd say that if I'd kept going I would have been in to 32 to 33 minute bracket for sure which would have knocked a good bit of time off my pb.

Oh well, there's allways next time I suppose! πŸ™‚πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

That’s excellent. Have you thought about doing a Parkrun? It’s a great way to spend a Saturday morning. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Hi Dexy5, yes that will be the plan in the coming weeks. I'm lucky enough to have 2 different park runs to choose from both about 2 miles from the house.

I've done all of my running since week 3 of c25k on grass and stupid as it sounds, I think I want to try the park run surfaces by myself before taking part. I have heard that grass running although easier on the joints is actually harder, so fingers crossed that's the case.
