Final Run Tomorrow!

I cannot believe it, I've made it to Week 9 Run 3! I honestly never thought i'd get this far nor did i actually think i'd enjoy it. The first few weeks were genuine torture and i could not see any way in be being able to run for 3 minutes, let alone 30.

Having run 5km on Monday 31:15 and then yesterday (without a rest day) 5km in 30minutes 2 seconds my body is definitely screaming for a day off! Tomorrow my trainers will be back on and i hope to see 29:59 (or lower) whilst completing the final run of this incredible journey which has also seen me lose 30lb.

To those that are just starting, keep at it! If i can do it then anyone can but don't focus on the distance, focus on the the time you are running for because this isn't a race, its about bettering yourself.

And to those who have commented on my previous posts, thanks for the motivation and luck!

Absolutely brilliant DC1995! Congratulations on your weight loss too.

My Graduation run is tomorrow as well - trying to decide whether to go for pace (my PB for 5k is 30 mins dead in Parkrun a couple of weeks ago) or just take my time basking in the glory of Graduation 😂😂

Good Luck tomorrow x

Thanks, you too!

I say go for it! Graduate from C25k with a PB!

This is going to sound super cocky (but it isn't meant in that way), but i know i can run for 30minutes as I'm sure you know you can too. Personally, i will feel much more proud of myself if i beat my PB, but thats just me.

I look forward to seeing "graduate" next to your name tomorrow!

Thank you! It doesn't sound cocky at all - trouble is when I did that PB I had to stop and walk twice. It was supposed to be my Week 9 Run 1 but I called it a fail and redid the run last Sunday at a slighty slower pace. Mind you I've got a couple of extra weeks running in my legs now so hopefully I'm stronger :-)

Ah fair enough. I use MapMyRun and it tells you your KM splits, maybe give that a try and aim for a certain speed per KM. I'm aiming for around 6Minutes per Km. But whatever makes you feel comfortable!

Thanks I'll try that - only have a Nokia brick so no MapMyRun for me 😂 I can set up my interval timer though as the Parkrun course I train on has the KM marked. If I don't manage it I can always give it another go at a slower pace x

I wish all the best for your graduation run tomorrow. I am not all that far from that as well, this morning I completed run 1 of week 8, my first 28-minute run, I am like you very pleased with my progress.

Congratulations DC1995, this morning I completed run 2 of week 8, the 28 minute run, that is amazing that you ran two consecutive 5k's in a row, great times as well, your body, of course, is screaming for a rest, in fact they say it's not advisable to do what just did, anyway, have a great well deserved rest day.

Congrats to you too, you're so close to finishing too!

It wasn't preferred to run two days in a row but i finish Uni on Friday so can't imagine I'm going to have time to run come this weekend but i really wanted to finish the C25K programme so did two runs in a row

Thanks, i do have age on my side, I'm 22 which i assume makes a difference...

Stick with it though and run at a speed that you are comfortable with. In my first 5k, my km splits were all within a few seconds of each other and the run itself was quite comfortable.

My second run i was very much aiming for 30minutes on the dot so went out way too fast and my first and second KM were 40 seconds quicker (5:45) than my 3rd and 4th (6:25) i then really had to pick up the pace in the final KM to compensate for this (5:41) and i was really struggling at the end.

I guess what I'm saying is, try and find a pace that you are comfortable with and try and stick to it consistently along the whole run and then maybe pick up the pace for the last minute or two to really finish on a high!
