It was evil!!! Why is it so hard.

Did it but felt like my lungs were going to explode. Granted I don’t have a rest day at the weekend as otherwise I can’t do 3 runs in a week but still!!

Does everyone struggle with this one?

Exploding lungs = going too fast. Think snail, then slow down. There are quite a few of us happy snails 🐌 so you will be in good company! 😃

Those are big intervals but you must have done 20 mins straight already. Just follow the number one piece of advice - slow down!

Well done for completing it though! Even if it was tough! 😀

W6R1 and R2 are the hardest in the entire programme, in my opinion. And running run 1 the day after the 20 minute run of W5? No wonder it was hard work!

Well done for doing it and good luck with the rest of the programme.

I already feel like a snail lol

Part of the issue was running in a different park because it’s near the pet store & I needed to shop after but I under estimated how hilly that park is. Was killer!!!

Search for w6r1 on this forum and you’ll find no end of people who found it tough after w5r3. The main thing is you did it! Well done!

tip: you don't *have* to do all three runs in the space of 7 days. You're better off taking it slightly slower and reducing risk of injury, as a new runner! Otherwise you'll be having enforced rest days on the injury couch and no-one likes that...

but yes also to assure you loads of people have trouble with week 6 run 1. Longest workout to date, you see.

I did try doing two runs a week but I didn’t feel like it was building up any stamina but yes I’ve deffo overdone it can barely walk now - ouch

there are people here who've mentioned training for half-marathons on two days a week :) - it might feel like slower progress but progress it will be! Can you fit in other, non-impact exercise on one of the weekend days? That could really help your running and keep your fitness improving.

I do yoga if I can get there on a Wednesday, pilates on a Thursday and boogie bounce on a Saturday

You do need the rest days.

Its known to be tough.

You really need to take your rest days. It's very important at this stage to ensure your body has time to recover.

Trust me, you really don't want to end up with an injury. Not being able to run at all is worse than feeling its all taking too long to feel fitter.

Ditto what everyone else is saying. I've just done W6R2 and that wasn't easy but I had been forewarned by these lovely people on this forum. Took it slow & steady & got thru it. You will too. This programme really works. We got this. (She says collapsing in a heap!) 😉

W6R1 is your longest workout to date.

Have you read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which explains why rest days are crucial to new runners.

Take care.

I have but I can’t get the balance right for me I am only run Tuesday in the week & it’s too spaced apart I think to build stamina unless I get 3 runs in. Its tough

I think people get complacent after the 20 minute run and think that this one will be easy. Wrong.

I’ve just done run 3 and had my first kind of fail. I completed it but had to run a walking pace for a couple of minutes towards the end as got stitch. I must have started too fast.
