Old injury

Hi I have just finished R1W3 and so far so good! For someone who has led a very sedentary life for decades l am amazed that l have so far completed every run with relative ease and usually feel l can do more. So at the age of 60 am happy with my progress. My question is that although l don’t experience any aches or pains in my legs l do have an old injury in my back which gives me a problem from time to time on non running days and wondered if the advice on here about aches and pains subsiding in a few weeks also applies to this. I fractured a vertebrae in my lower back a few years ago but was very lucky in that l experienced little pain, unlike others l know. I run on a treadmill with small incline and 5 k speed. The ache seems muscular and hurts when l bend. Any thoughts or advice welcomed! I do wear running shoes purchased on advice following gait analysis.

Is it the ache lower back? I'm 63 tomorrow, did c25k at 60 and get a lower left backache on the right side occasionally, usually after a nights sleep then goes off during the day with movement, had it for many years, it never bothers me when running, I just give it a stretch, probably, I need to do more strengthening excercise on it..

Yes sounds very similar to that so hopefully nothing to worry about - thank you!

It might be worth visiting a sports physio to get it checked out and for some specialist advice?

Will look into that - thank you!

Doing some core strengthening exercises will develop the supporting musculature.

Have been intending to do some Pilates/yoga as part of my programme. Thank you!
