~ Invest in GREAT shoes. Spend. Get advice, try on, see an expert. You will regret a bad shoe (ask my torn calf muscle from my first attempt!)

~ Invest in a muscle roller! Great help for after the run when you sit down and then it hurts to stand back up again.

~ 80's music really is the best.

~ Run off pavement...my trail has a dirt sidetrack I use and I can really feel teh difference in my knees.

~ Hydrate hydrate hydrate!

Anyone else have some good tips?

yes and stretches. Perhaps we should mention mental attitude and enjoy?

As a Newbie don't try and beat other people's times, distances. Run for yourself and no one else.

Good advice - well the 80s music is subjective.

But, I would add :- Pace yourself. Try not to focus on speed in the early months.
