Running Days

Seeing as each week consists of three days, I am curious if most people run days back to back or skip a day between runs. I've done both, so I'm curious. I'm currently on week 6, day 3. I've never been a runner and I'm somehat enjoying it.

I dance one evening a week (totally counts as excercise but uses different body parts.) I run Sat, Mon, Thu and dance on Weds.

This week dancing isn't on so I might have an extra rest day. I find having regular days and times each week helps me stay motivated.

Its so important to have at least one rest day between your run days.

You need to let your muscles repair and grow stronger as running creates micro tears in them and these strengthen on your non-running day.

Not following the plan may lead you to injury.

Well done on getting to week 6, please take a day off running between sessions to make sure you get to graduation safely. 😊

Good to know...I didn't know this as I'm a super newbie to running.

I had been wondering the same. Thanks for asking! I always feel a little bad taking a 2 day break, but I know my body need a little extra time sometimes (pre-existing condition)

Super important to take rest days to avoid injury. Rest from running only though so you can find some complementary activity such as walking, swimming, cycling or weigh training. This will improve your overall health and fitness and so support your running. 2 days off is fine too.

I try Mon, Wed, Fri with weekend off but I work silly hours so it's not always possible, I quite often do two days in a row just because it's when I have the time.

Are you using the podcast/app? This information about *not* running on consecutive days is certainly there, but I wonder if it is easy to miss the coaching if you switch off before the end of the session, during the 5 minute warm down walk.

You have a choice between set days of the week for runs, or just making sure you don't run on consecutive days which could see you running 3 times in some calendar weeks and 4 in others - in the latter case you might then be moving onto the next 'week' of the programme sooner than a calendar week. I hope that makes sense!

Depends on your lifestyle really.

BTW: When you Really push yourself, the most Important thing is Just After the exercise. Immediately after, Do: Five minutes of Cool Down (easy exercise); Followed by Stretching of muscles, with Cooling-Heating as if Bad/ Major Bruised/Pulled muscles !!
