Phew I was gonna say ....

Mind you Bluebirdrunner is right and just over 6k in 36 mins is still Superwoman territory. I only just manage 5k in 36 mins. Well done you. xx

Thank you so much Titch121 for your kind words. Congrats on your achievement as well .

I'm no superwoman though .....I think I'm just stubborn and want to keep going for as long as I can ! ha!

So now my plan is ,every time I go out running I shall try to add another km on my distance if possible.

Happy running!πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

Hi Peggy, yep I was thrilled with my time although gutted about the 34 seconds. So wanted to do it in 1 hour 15. Im sure you are capable of completing 10k (Superwoman can do anything she puts her mind to).

So my tactics were that I realised after 5k even though I was tired I wasnt actually exhausted so when I had done it I walked for 5 mins to warm down then ran again (maybe ran is an exaggeration as it was more of a jog in reality). Once I was comfortable with that I walked for slightly less after 5k and ran for slightly more. I finally got so I was going for 9k (I did have little walks here and there) and decided I wouldnt attempt the 10k until the day of the race and then hopefully the adrenalin would get me through. It did sort of work. When I saw the 9k mark and heard the bands playing and the crowds cheering I had a sudden surge of energy until I reached the 800 meters mark. Thats when exhaustion suddenly kicked in. From there to 400 meters was awful and from 400 to 200 I thought I would be sick but I stuck it out and the feeling of satisfaction, pride, happiness, etc at the end when you collect your medal and goodie bag was something I would love to put in a bottle and share with you. Even the aches the next day didnt wipe the smile off my face. I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

Im giving myself a few weeks off then I will see what other 10ks there are although I like to stick with London as not only is it only a half hour journey for me but its nice and flat. Good luck with your training. Im sure you will be posting that you have reached your 10k target very soon.
