Climax Canyon 5K Trail Run Postponed Due To Expected Blizzard, High Winds, Freezing Temperatures, and 5 - 8 inches of Snow.

Well, it's 10:00 am, the start time of the trail run, and we have a dusting of snow. We do have some wind and it's 29° F (-1.6°C).

We could run this trail this morning but the director had no way of knowing that. We have had snow overhead and staying air born all night.

The run has been rescheduled to May 13th on my birthday. I like that since this is my first ever 5K and it's sort of a reward for me to do this seeing as how I have never been a runner and my body has been progressing well to this new demanding thing I've been putting it through. I will be 54 years old! Whooohooo by then I may be running 5 miles!

God is good and His creation is amazing.

Sheesh! Sounds horrendous! Ok for the trail hardened veterans I expect but for us mere mortals best not mess around in those conditions.

Ah well you get to do a few more training sessions before the second attempt. Have fun!

lol - you're right. Imagine me showing up my Ariat Boots - instead of these worn out 'ole Brooks Adrenalin GTS 15s I have. hmmmmm - may be on to something for survival training :-)

Literally record rainstorms and lightening storms here the last two days. Could not go out today for my run. Mother Nature obviously is jealous of us Runners LOL :)

PS just read your profile, we have a lot in common - and that now includes being Runners :)

ha!! I have to agree. I am starting to feel like a runner. Monday is another 4.1 miler. Half up hill for 700 feet. I'll go slow and easy like I am hearing from ultra marathon pros. I started this thing with way too much too soon.

You know what's so cool about this is being able to talk to these guys who are setting records and winning 50 milers. They may be elite runners but they have no elite air about them. They are humble, genuine. gracious, and accessible.

It's so nice to be able to get advice and encouragement from those who have gone before me.

The courtesy and encouragement I have found here in this forum is proving to be a norm among most all runners. Any misconceptions I have had in the past about athletes being snoots has been pleasantly shattered. At least among the running community it has.

Thank you for your encouragement!

Like I always say - we may run on our own here but we never run alone :)
