...finally completing week 4, being mentally prepared and fired up to start week 5, and then getting ill. Really poorly. Stonking sore throat - I can't swallow it's so painful. Swollen glands, general feeling of bleagh. I am so cross I have to complete the programme by the end of May as I have signed up to do a 5k in June and time is ticking by. Feeling very grumpy today - please send encouraging and positive vibes.
Frustration is...: ...finally completing week... - Couch to 5K
Frustration is...
Get better.. properly better.. listen to your body, and until it tells you.." I feel like a run", just sit back, loads of liquids, soothing sucky sweets, home made honey and lemon... keep warm and rest.
If your swollen glands do not go down in a few days, then you need to get checked out.., as it is really a sign that they are fighting an infection
So many of us have been on the IC with this sort of lurgy, since Christmas.. you will recover
Meantime, cosset yourself and plan some new runs, or routes in your head..
Gentle Hug x
There is good news in all this. Running makes you healthier! When your body is running tickety-boo, and you are much fitter and stronger, then you are better placed to fend off lurgy should it come knocking at your door
Obviously, this is not a clinical diagnosis. I am not a doctor (oh you'd guessed!)
I dare hardly say that I have not had a cold since Adam were a lad ...... just watch! LOL
Aaah poor you allegrachick.😯
Nothing you can do but rest and keep up your fluids.
Feel better soon. You will get there don't worry. xxx (hug)
I can sympathise! I got to Week 4 and hurt my foot, had a couple of weeks off and thought I'd better do Week 4 over again before moving on. Then I got a cold... I spent about a month in total on Week 4 and listened to that damn podcast maybe 8 times! I finally moved on to Week 5 today, and it was so wonderful to listen to something new.
It might seem like a long way away, but you will get to the point where you're feeling better and ready to move on. Hope you feel better soon!
That's really encouraging, thank you. I spent about three weeks on week 4 and got pretty fed up with it. Good luck on week 5 - keep us informed of your progress. It looks quite scary!
Thank you everyone for all the positive and encouraging comments. I'm feeling pretty down today things, as thee old song goes, can only get better.
