I'm doing all my runs in gym on treadmill, I see others are outside taking in hills and such. Am I doing ok on treadmill? I'm getting there, breathing no problem but my legs and feet get tired, any comments?

We are all different...we have our own preferences and choices..if we are lucky.

I love my outdoors..but was so glad of my cross-trainer after broken ribs and a spell on the IC...

The treadmill counts..you are doing fine..it is different, and running outside you would notice that:) But..you are running and that is all that counts..so...as with outdoors..slow and steady...you will get there :)

And...when you get to Graduation...then,maybe,a venture out into the wide, wild world.:)

Thanks for that , reassured now.

I will venture outside once I've completed training. There's a beach near me, I can try there, am so delighted to be "running" and to have hit this far.

Your input is appreciated. Thank you.:)

Yes I'm lucky. And the beauty of it is it's normally quiet. 🙏

Your doing great! Tiredness, keep the treadmill slow just above walking speed, no more! Make sure you warm up nicely and stretch properly afterwards..😊

I will follow your advice, I run at 7km, then down to 6.6km, and I get there without stopping... so thanks again for that. 😊

I was doing all my runs outside but bought a treadmill for the winter months and now do my runs on that. it's lovely to run outside with the fresh air and the breeze to cool you down and especially if you have nice surroundings.

You're doing great, keep it up!

I started on treadmill , but once I get to end of w 9 I will go outside as weather will be more settled too.

Many thanks for your contribution. 😊

It's a case of "horses for courses". Whatever works so long as you say "You are getting there". I run outside and at times in Winter had wished I had a treadmill. But despite that even in worst weather I may have for couple of weeks done 1 or 2 runs and managed mostly 3 and am back on course.

Luckily when I graduated I think about July last year the weather was great and I had a nice quite pleasant lake off a quite canal (even in Birmingham) to run around.

Think you've got it about right perhaps try outside and see how you go. Good luck.

Treadmill is fine! Lots of people complete the programme on the treadmill. When you feel comfortable I would absolutely recommend outside running. I completed the first six weeks of the programme inside on the treadmill and after my first run outside never went back to the treadmill again! It's supposed to be a little harder than treadmill running (although I found running outside easier) and so some people suggest if you want to simulate outside running on a treadmill use a 1% incline. Remember to go slowly (I think it's hard to remember that you can slow down on a treadmill as the pace is set for you) but you're doing well to have got all the way to Week 8 so keep going, you're nearly at that magical 30 minutes!

I did C25k on a mixture of treadmill and outside. I don't think it matters. The important thing is that your body is adjusting to the big news that you now want it to be a runner! It will get the message just as well indoors as outside.

Now, though, I never run on the treadmill. One reason is definitely that I prefer fresh air and scenery to sweaty air and the gym wall. The other is that it's too easy on a treadmill to stop! I have to fight the gremlins the whole way who're chanting, "You could stop now. You could stop now. You could stop now. You could stop now. You could stop now" etc.. At least when I'm out running I have to keep going to get back home so there's no point in stopping. :)

Actually, when I say I never run on the treadmill, I probably would if we had a period of slippery icy pavements or deep snow. There are limits to the joys of the great outdoors when it comes to running....

I haven't stopped yet! But was so tempted a few times to be honest, starting w9 on Wednesday, getting there at last.:)
