Week 5 completed...I amazed myself!

After run 2 on Wednesday I had convinced myself that there was no way I was going to,be able to run for 20 minutes straight. I really didn't enjoy run 2 and even ended up with a sore back, which I think is due to tense shoulders whilst running.

I spent most of today worrying about this evening and,....yes I even started formulating excuses as to why I might not make it out tonight. Anyway, I got home from work and decided to ge changed straight away and just get it over and done with, fairly ready to give up after 10 minutes or so. As so many have suggested, I took this one at a slightly slower pace. The first 7 minutes were tough. Got to 10 minutes and still going. At 15 minutes I realised I could actually do this...and that was it...20 minutes were up!

I can't quite believe how far I've come in just a few weeks! For anyone out there who thinks they can't do this...believe me you can. It's not always easy but your strength and fitness really does improve with each run.

Now looking forward to week 6.

hummmmm interesting

I have been using the couch to 5k app from the NHS website rather than using the podcasts.

Not sure why really other than possibly easier to use...?

But this is one day where the podcasts and the app do differ. Podcast is 20 minutes solid steady state running whilst the app has two 8 minute runs separated by a 5 minute walk.

I am technically on week 5 day two at the moment, but I may just try day 3 today and the podcast tomorrow if I can work out how to use it on the Iphone!!

Well done it is a fantastic feeling😀👍I'm ready to do week6r2 on Monday and already panicking that it is last of walk /runs so will have to start my positive thoughts again!!! 25 mins seems a long time but it's funny I've already been reading up about speeding up your runs but a bit away from that! 😃😃 must remember 1 day at a time!!! First aim to complete the c25k😊 keep up the good work mines will be slow but steady😃😃😃. Phyllis

Lovely post! Well done☺. It sounds as though you are learning to beat those gremlins and believe in yourself as a runner. Good luck with Week 6☺.

Start slow, slower than you would normally run, remember you need to pace yourself. I use an app on my iPhone for running that has a count down timer....I really tried not to keep looking at it, just in case time was "slowing down". You have already done two 8 minute runs with a 5 minute walk..that's more than 20 mins! You can definitely do this......heck if I can do it anyone can👍
