I had to sit out on the couch about three weeks ago with a sore knee, it had niggled for two weeks but I knew I had to rest it, I had reached W7R1, I was gutted.
I rested for a week then took myself back to W6R2 which I found too easy (I know😱) then on to W6R3 which was better but then last Thursday my Dad passed away. I needed to and was ready to run today, I was very aprehensive about continuing after a weeks break but I ran for 25 minutes, I really thought that my stamina would have dropped, I stupidly ran without having eaten at all but got away with it today, I wont ever do that again.by
Not really sure what I am trying to say, I was punishing myself in some respects but also trying to prove that I can run and it is now clear to me that this programme works and I will be graduating in a couple ofweeks just slightly behind my original date.

I'm so sorry about your dad and I understand about the need to run when you're grieving. I lost my dad in January and so needed to run but couldn't as I had an injury.
Please don't punish yourself but be kind and take care of yourself. It's a hard time but it sounds as if you're getting back to the running again, just be gentle and don't do too much too soon. The graduation will come, there is no hurry.
Im saddened to hear about your loss, you need to take good care of yourself. The running is a good alternative focus for you during these difficult times, time for you, time to remember, to reflect, to grieve. There is no reason to feel guilty about that.
Many of us on this forum have come to running for similar reasons -to help us through tough times particularly where our loved ones are concerned. Then we find we love being a runner, that's a real bonus!
So, embrace your running, enjoy each run-out and use the 'me time' for just that!
