OK i I'm back again - I'm joined the gym with my daughter - and started the C25k on the treadmill. I've made it to week 6 day 1. Having my daughter as mygym partner is really helping. I know it's easier to run on a treadmill, but I'm glad to be sticking with it

How lovely that you're both doing this together and well done in getting to week 6. I don't agree that running on a treadmill is easier. I've done both and find them different although I prefer outside running, but at the end of the day running is running.
I agree with Irishprincess that you haven't taken the easy option. I've been on a treadmill once, for the purposes of gait analysis (which didn't actually inform the choice of shoe since I was buying trail shoes) and if that was the last time I ever go on one, it will be one time too many.
But I am blessed with being able to access fabulous places to run outside offroad and with a dog to encourage and accompany me. If I was forced to pound pavements in a dodgy area by myself late at night or in an unbearably hot climate, then I might be jolly glad of a treadmill.
