So am a couple of weeks off my W9 R3, graduation run. I'm just wondering did/are any of you planning a special run?
Maybe first park run? Maybe a route you've always wanted to do with a end point? A certain finish line?
Just looking ahead....... Thinking of a target/finish line.
If it all goes to plan (famous last words 'n all that) I reckon my Wk9 Run3 could be on the weekend of 8th and 9th October so I hope to do it as a parkrun (probably using the last 10 minutes or so as my cool down walk).
Then on 29th October I've challenged work colleagues to do a parkrun with me. I don't know how many will join me but some are already runners, others are lapsed runners and some are non runners with good intentions. All of them are younger than me by about 20 years though so I shall of course showing them all how it's done - I hope!!
What are you planning?
My local parkrun I hope in a couple of weeks, should finish C25k in the next week but the first Saturday I can go will be 8th October - there said it out loud and put it here so I'll have to do it now 😂🏃🐌🐢
I ran the same route I did for W1R1 and reflected how far I had come. Was amazing to think back on it. I also had a 5km race within the month which is like graduation all over again.
Wkdjojo I went for a riverside run rather than my usual street routes , and had my son along for company.......... I have run with him previously so knew it wouldn't disrupt my rhythm, speed etc which is important to think about if you make a change . As my son was about to leave for three months abroad it was v special. For me I thought Parkrun was a bit too much pressure, I'm giving myself a few more weeks to get comfortable with running 5k.
But you should do what seems right for you, the important thing is getting out there and doing it!

If I do it right I will/should have my last run on 8th October...... I have found another school mum at my daughters school who is training to 5 k not using any program just running, I'm picking her up on Saturday for my first park run, it'll also be the first time running with someone so am a bit nervous. Me and my step son who is a week behind me are booked into a 5k on 5th November. I'm thinking I might do my graduation run along my local canal, or maybe round the local park, somewhere different to the streets/roads I usually run through the week. Give me a nice change to houses

I have found a 5k run around my local city, Bradford. On the 30th Oct, which is 2 weeks after my graduation, am very very tempted, but its 1 week before my first offical 5k I'm already booked with, in fact the movember 5k is what started me on this programme. Do you think its doable to do 2 5k events a week after each other. I'm currently covering 4.3 to 4.5k per run. I only take 1 rest day at the moment. Anyone have any guidance?
Definitely doable. You tend to run a little harder in races though, so give yourself an extra rest day or two before the second race.
My graduation run was my normal route but in snow! It wasn't planned of course, but was something a little bit different!
Good idea to plan ahead. My graduation run was after a meal on a Friday evening at the end of a busy week, simply because I didn't have the patience to wait until the following day. It was a slog, remembered for all the wrong reasons, so I advise setting it up carefully and make it a special event.
Somewhere beautiful, mine was on the isle of mull, gorgeous! I wouldn't personally do a parkrun as graduation as people start off really quickly and you may end going too fast and struggle more at the end, I did one a week or so after graduation but after doing some 5ks on my own first....enjoy wherever you end up...
