I just wanted to say thanks again for everyone's support here! I completed my 10th week, this week with the outside runs. I got smiles and a thumbs up from a really fit runner type π
I just want to give a little background to explain how this board helped me. I was diagnosed with PTSD 18 months ago, along with that comes general anxiety and some depression. I got to the point where I feared going outside getting the mail. Slowly I have worked my way back to regaining confidence and my ability to be in the real world. Last week when I posted I here about my fears about running outside, I was full to the brim with anxiety, to the point I barely slept the night before and had nightmares about running outside. But when I did wake up early that morning, I checked all the posts that had been left for me. I got my gear on with tears in my eyes and did it.
I did it 3 times this week. It's been part of my exposure therapy. It's been amazing, facing it when prepared helps cure the fear.
So thank you. You really never know what a kind word can do, for it's been life changing π

Well done. I have been running for about 7 months ago and I was worried about facing people but in all that time, I have found most people just don't notice and everyone else has either said "hello" or "keep up the good work"! I am 52 and a little overweight too but I love running outside and will now even run through the busy parts of town without worrying, keep it up and your confidence can keep growing!
