So I managed w7 day 3 outside slightly downhill, I only did 2 miles in the 25 minutes, I know it's not about speed but I was disheartened to discover that that's only just over 3k, the 5 k now seems so far away.
The elusive 5k: So I managed w7 day 3 outside... - Couch to 5K
The elusive 5k
Don't worry about the distance, concentrate on running for the minutes.
Don't be down heartened, your doing amazing! If it takes you 45 minutes to run 5k then so be it but remember that your running none stop for so long!
Don't worry, it's likely your speed and distance will increase a bit more in the next 2 weeks so although 5k in 30 minutes is unlikely for a little while you will be getting closer! Some people push on for the 5k on their graduation run and run a bit extra but many don't and some will never do 5k in 30 minutes. You have your whole running life ahead of you so just focus on the 30 minutes for now, there will be plenty of time to reach that 5k. Remember, would you ever have thought you'd be running 3k or for 30 minutes 7 weeks ago?
You are currently running further and also faster than I am - and in less time (and I'm running further and faster than I was last week)! It's all relative. You will get further and you will get faster. I often wish it had been called Couch to 3k instead of 5k! Don't let your disappointment detract from how amazingly you have done to get where you are today. Aim for graduation and being able to run for 30 minutes. Don't be down on yourself. You're doing just great.
Yes. Couch to 3 k or even 4 k sounds much better!
As I said a couple of days ago I did 1.8 m that run and realised how far I was off 5k. Stamina not distance!! I'm sure I time we will get to 5k, just not in the 3o mins. Being able to run two miles is amazing though!!
You 'only' ran for two miles. Two miles running is amazing!! Well done to you 🌟🌟🌟
When I graduated, I was doing 30 minutes but nowhere near 5k, probably just over 3k but it is the time that counts. A few weeks after graduating, I ran on after 30 minutes and by 43 minutes I reached 5k! It is just about keeping going, every run builds fitness and confidence a little more and you will reach 5k when you are ready
Good job - well done! Stronger every run - hurrah💫
@Clairratc don't get disheartened! I wrote a post two weeks ago that was almost exactly the same and then comfortably ran 5k a week later. Completely on the level it has to be said. Since then I've run another 5k, very slowly! A few months ago I couldn't run at all!! It's all relative as someone said earlier. Enjoy your run today!
