Hi all I've not been on for a while. I finished the programme a couple of weeks ago. I really can't believe that I have managed to do it. I think back to week 1 trying to run for one minute. I hadn't done any kind of strenuous exercise for over 10 years and I can tell you that first week was a struggle. No way could I see myself running for 30 minutes. But here I am now 11 weeks on and managing to run 5k, that's 5 whole kilometres, in 30 minutes. How did this happen? This programme is nothing short of miraculous. Not only did I not see myself running for 30 minutes in that first week, but I could never envisage enjoying it. But now I am always looking forward to my next run. It is such a rush, getting out pushing myself, trying to go a little further or a little faster.
I am a runner.
3 months ago I would never have contemplated that but here I am. And a thank you to the positive voices in this community. I had a few difficult times along the way (particularly week 6 - what is that about?) and the response, support and encouragement was very welcome indeed. So thank you.
For you people that are just starting out, keep going. Slow and steady. Don't try to push yourself too hard. You will get there. You will become a runner.
I have rewarded myself with a 'graduate' badge.
