Encourage me please!

After a year away from C25K due to two ops last year, I want to get back to it. Scared as I have put on weight over the last year. Also I start a new job on Tues and am worried how my running schedule will fit into that. Any advice please? Thanks :)

Hi Lisa, don't be scared - you've done it before, so you know what to expect.  As a wise runner recently said to me, trust the programme!  Yes, some things have changed for you and you need to be mindful that your body is recovering after your ops, but this half hour will only make things better for you. Go for it lady!

Thank you - you are right! Tomorrow it is then  - back to W1R1!

Congratulations on the new job and your recovery from two ops!  Every time I have to take a break, it is an effort of will to get back going again no matter how committed I am to doing this. It is a case of just getting those shoes on and stepping out of the door. You can do it, ignore the worry voices.  I do find that running first thing in the morning is a great start to the day but sometimes it doesn't fit in, like today.  I would suggest you are kind to yourself in any case for a week or two, a new job will be tiring, all that getting to know new people and a new routine.  It's a lovely sunny morning here, I'm hoping it will last to this evening when I'll be able to fit a run in and that my knee will hold up.  Meet you back here later today to congratulate ourselves?

Thanks - take care with your knee. I have just got all my kit out ready for tomorrow morning but have decided after reading your reply to go out this evening (off to work right now). So will see you back hete this eve after the run!

Hey Lisa, how did you do?  I've just finished my run (I am repeating week 3 probably for the next two weeks and focussing on knee strengthening exercises before I move on again).  Definitely prefer running first thing in the morning on an empty stomach rather than in the afternoon after a family meal out!!

Make your health the priority.  Find the time 😊

You've done it before, so you know you can do it mentally. You want to do it, because you know it makes you feel good. The only problem you may have is physical, having put on a few pounds. So take it nice and slow - there are loads of people on here carrying a few extra pounds who are doing really well. Take a bit longer if you need it. Don't compare with how you were before. And ENJOY! (Again)

Fresh start!  New job, new vigour.  Go for it!  You need to do it to lose weight and get fit so make it a priority

Think of the times when maybe you'd be in front of the telly etc and do c25k instead 😊

You can do this, you may find you'll take in a lot more of Laura's advice this time around since you'll remember some from last time.  I set my alarm extra early every morning so I can fit in a run and shower and other therapy, I have a great day after a morning run :)  On days off the extra morning time I use for chores and extra coffee hehe.

Your body may have taken a battering but it hasn't forgotten how to run. You will slot back into it gently and quickly remember why you loved running before. Take it steady. The programme is so flexible - make it work for you. If you need extra rest days to work round your schedule that's fine.

The main obstacle is your fear of starting. The way to overcome that is to get those shoes on and go!

Good luck with the new job and the running. We're all here for you!

Thanks so much everyone! Would still be worrying and puting it off without your messages of support. Thanks to Swmymor for checking in this eve -   glad you had a good run and time with the family.  My run wasn't as bad as I feared - actually can't wait til my next one on Tues now!!  Thanks again all :)
