I would get this check. Don 't underestimate your body talking to you.

This is definitely one for the GP, if for no other reason than to to reassure you that it's ok to keep running. Do make an appointment to get it checked out and keep us informed. Good luck :)

I had exactly the same thing first time I started to run and I went to see the doc. He said I had done the right thing by going and gave me a throughly good check up. In my case my thyroid was a little out of whack and I needed some meds to sort it but I was always glad I just went and had a chat. As we always say on here "if in doubt, check it out".

You've got only one heart so get it checked out. I've had palpitations and an irregular heartbeat when lying in bed and went to the doctor. After various tests I've just been given the all clear. They were stress related. But the tests are painless and thorough.

I've had a blood test, blood pressure taken, ECG, 24-hour heart monitor, treadmill test and a scan of my heart! So as you can see the process is very thorough. I'm sure each case is different and you might need none of the above or different tests. I was given the OK to continue running after the blood test, blood pressure and ECG but slowly. I couldn't over exert myself until all the tests were done and came back clear. So I couldn't run fast or hills! Good doctors take palpitations very seriously so please do get it checked out. It could be something as simple as drinking too much caffeine! Let us know how you get on.

Just reading this, Parcel Queen would certainly advise seeing a doctor. I too have high blood pressure, an inherited condition, not overweight, reasonably healthy and exercise regularly,. had a bit of a scare over Christmas, Doctor thought I may have had a mini stroke, temporarily lost peripheral vision in my left eye, after CT scan and MRI hospital confirmed it wasn't a mini stroke, so that was excellent news, however at the same time doctor discovered I have a heart murmur and and am now going next week to have a 48hr ECG done, they wire you up to a small ecg machine attached to the waist and you just carry on as normal for 48 hours and they then look at the information gathered to see what exactly is going on. Was told by GP and consultant that it was ok to go running, (usually 5k a couple of times a week). But to be honest, whilst I am going out walking, am scared stiff to go running. Would really prefer to know exactly what is going on first. Have been wondering for a while now if anyone else here is running with heart murmurs or other heart problems.
