I'd like to join you guys!! Need to lose 15 lbs and get going exercise again. Are you fooling a program or is this an encouragement and sharing site? If there a program, what and where is it? I'm going to start tomorrow regardless.
Couch potato to 5 k: I'd like to join you guys... - Couch to 5K
Couch potato to 5 k
Hello there. You came to the right place for Couch to 5k. You can find the podcasts or app free to download on NHS Livewell website or on itunes store. The podcasts for mp3 tend to work better than the app which can be a bit flaky apparently. You just down load, get your running shoes on and set off SLOWLY following your trainer called LAURA. You'll see her on the NHS livewell site explaining how the programme works. Everything is there you could possibly need to know. She will drip feed information to you as you need it rather than bombard you with too much. You just do the runs in order, every other day. You have to rest a day in between.
It's great fun! You can compare notes on here with those on the same week as you. If you look to the right of your screen the weeks are highlighted in blue text.
Don't bother with pace/time/speed/distance. It's all an irrelevance. It's just about finishing the session.
Many hundreds, if not millions, of people have done the programme. All off the couch, and are running regularly now, many of whom are on here sharing the love.
Good luck!
Download the couch to 5k app to your phone. There is 9 weeks of podcasts to get you through. i'm currently on week 7 and now running 25 minutes at a time reasonably well. Im 46 and weigh 21st and never thought I would be running again.
Here is great for support, advice and encouragement. keep us informed of your progress.
Hi.
Well done for deciding to become more active!
You can find the "Couch to 5km" (C25K in brief) programme on the NHS website, at nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/...
Welcome to the community
Best regards,
Saverio
I have nothing else to add to the comments above. I just wanted to say hi, welcome, good luck with the programme & most importantly enjoy it! ☺
Hello and good luck from me too!🙂
We are or have at some stage followed a programme, this is also an encouragement and sharing site. So....follow the programme and come back for sharing and encouragement. Good luck !
Ditto what misswobble said
Give the app a swerve and get the podcasts
This is no fantasy, this program works and some .. we all started off at week 1 run 1 with no idea what it would lead to.
Go on what are you waiting for? Do it , you won't regret it and it will change your life in ways you won't think
They have told you all you need to know.. so hi there, welcome and just get out there and go for it!
We'll all be here to help, encourage, cajole and even give you the odd gentle shove in the right direction!
Keep posting and you will achieve everything that you've flagged up!
Ditto to all of the above really, and welcome to C25K. This forum will help you get through the 9 weeks lime they never happened.
Again, nothing new to add, but hello! I'm on Week 5 of the program and am really enjoying it (despite always hating PE at school). I visit this site almost every day because everyone on here is so positive and friendly. The graduates and 10K-runners congratulate newbies like ourselves when we post about our successes, and encourage us to keep going if we feel rubbish-y. It's been a massive boost receiving all this wonderful feedback, so definitely post here regularly! =] Good luck with the program, you've already made the first and hardest step!
The program is called "Couch to 5k" or C25K, but really it should be called 'Couch to 30 minutes running three times a week". The objective is to get you running for 30 minutes, 3 times per week. It is not important if you cover 5km in those 30 minutes. Many people who graduate from C25K do not cover 5km in that time. C230m3xpw is not as memorable as C25k.
And, Welcome.
Welcome and good luck! Great decision - you won't regret it!
Thank you all that welcomed me, how encouraging!
Let us know how you get on
