Running/jogging without the walk intervals would have seemed daunting six weeks ago but, another good session today, and I am feeling pretty confident. Bring on week 7. OK I am not Speedy Gonzales but could probably muster up enough energy to run a respectable distance with those in my family that seem to want to run with me and muscle in on my "training". They have a bit of a surprise in store!
Most definitely turned a corner: Running/jogging... - Couch to 5K
Most definitely turned a corner
I sort of find running without breaks is easier, pain in the calves usually comes when I slow to a walk! Once you get the pace and breathing right, it is ok to keep going (not forever but a while)! Julie
I know exactly what you mean Julie about pace and breathing. I feel I have made real progress in this respect and my endurance has improved no end.
At last. For all of us there seems to be some "tipping point" beyond which the doubts recede and the confidence grows and grows (along with the forgetfulness of what a struggle starting can be). I suppose, "Enjoy your next one" would be more appropriate at this point than "Well done"; but you have done well.
This is spot on Gary. Thinking about it, the starting out pain/struggle has, quite remarkably, receded already! Onwards and upwards!
Great stuff.
I was the same as you. In the early weeks of c25k, I was constantly looking at my watch - desperate for it to be time for the next walking break.
By the time I got to week 6 though, I found that my fitness had developed to the extent that any benefit of the rest was outweighed by the loss of rhythm and that it was better just to keep on running.
That's my best theory as to why so many find week 6 to be the toughest of the program.
