Need to get started again

It's been a long time since I started my c25 k journey I picked up a nasty injury and was out of action for the best part of a year in my head I desperately want to start again but I keep putting it off. I am starting to get frustrated with myself I need a good kick in the pants and some motivation.

Well, you've come to the right place! What are you doing reading replies? Get out there and run! (You know you want to). Lay out your kit as you go to bed and put it on first thing in the morning - that way when you start to think about whether you should, you will be all ready to go and can just step out the door. Go along to your nearest parkrun, too! If you don't find encouragement there, I'd be surprised!

Welcome back. ;)

All the motivation you need is right here reading how proud we are of each other. Get your trainers on and become one of this lot again!

In mid April I picked up what I thought was a nasty chest infection, but appears to have been a mild chest infection and some stretched chest muscles. As the Stretch pains didn't go away I thought I still had a chest infection and so didn't run...after 10 weeks out I went back to the doctor who said it was just stretched muscles, man up an and run....So I did and am having to retrain my muscles etc.

I did a week or so of playing with intervals to work out where I was and then dived back into week four. I am finding all more rewarding the second time round, not sure why but I am.

I did have to convince myself to go out again, but ultimately it came down to just getting the trainers on and putting one foot in front of the other.

Good luck!

I can sympathise with you but you're back now. You are now you said you are going to put those shoes back on and go! You have to go through with it now. We're here to support you so just do it. It doesn't have to be fast, or long, just a lovely slow jog in your fave place. A bit of music might help things along. Just chill and enjoy yourself

I am injured but can't wait to get back. I can understand the fear and trepidation though. You have to relax though or you'll be as stiff as a board

Good luck. Let us know how it goes

i too didn't run for a period of nearly 2 months due to various health issues involving many antibiotics and feeling like c***!!!! I retired from work on Friday 3rd July and on the Monday i was back out running. I know i do not have the pressure of work any longer, and that has made a difference, i can go running first thing in the morning, well around 9am, then home, cool down exercises, in the shower and i am ready for the rest of the day. I am so glad i have restarted, i missed running so much and felt guilty 'cos i wasn't, so i understand how you feel, please please just try again i am sure you will regain the buzz you once got from it. I wish you well in your quest i really hope that all of us who have replied can give you the support you need.
