Running, vineyards and dogs....

It has been a very busy week following graduation......

Wednesday - public holiday so decided to go cycling - thought as it was only 18degrees and cloudy to go cycle in Parque metropolitano - so managed to find the right road and a few steep climbs to the entrance of the park. There is only a cycling and running route, once again its very busy as everyone is out. This park has a unique difference its actually a hill - so its all up hill, now there are little plateaus but it all uphill to the Virgin Mary Statue (a bit like Rio but we have the Virgin Mary.) We decided after 5miles of continuous climbing we would leave the cycle to the statue another time and head back home, what goes up must come down so a very fast free wheel out of the park. Cycling a total of 11miles. I give credit to the people who run the route or cycle towing children i don't know how they do it but i think i will look at running in the park as it would be a challenge.

Thursday - First post gradation run - it was a lovely day - sun was out - decided to run slower at the start and speed up towards the end - managed 5km in 32mins 57seconds.

After thursday things start to go a bit wrong... we were off to Argentina's wine country so i know it was a going to a difficult weekend to exercise but i took my running stuff. Saturday woke up and felt not too bad considering the amount of vino i had the night before. So decided to go for a run around the vineyards (how could i not in this beautiful setting see above pic) - before i continue i would like to mention dogs roam freely in South America, so off i start - oh thats a rather big vicious looking dog barking at me - oh its ok its on the other side of the fence - keep running i am through the gate - now the other side of the fence -urm where is that dog? Bark bark oh there it is- oh it looks like its caged in, my dog use to escape can this dog escape too? oh here is another - big vicious barking dog again in its own run - this continued as my running route was along the perimeter of our hotel, i felt like these dogs where going to escape and attack me so decided a 20minute run will have to do. Having said that I understand they are security dogs as we were in the middle of the countryside but not pleasant to run along with the barking dogs and worrying, having said that if they had escaped they probably would have rolled over to be fussed but you never know do you....

Saturday afternoon was 2 x wine tasting and wine with lunch, rest....dinner lots of wine....sunday followed by another wine tasting... return flight back to chile. So today i have not felt up to running managed to put on all the weight i lost because of lovely wine and the great food but no regrets.

Oh Vixchile - what an inspiring view as a backdrop to your running. Shame about those dogs, don't blame you for making it a short run.

I like the sound of all the wine tasting though. Trust you don't waste it by spitting it out!

No spitting it out that's just a waste of good wine
