A slow W9R1

After parkrun on Saturday and then spending hours sat at the track waiting and watching my son compete in the Youth Developement League (U20's Men 3000m Steeplechase) - I felt a bit achey today - nothing too bad not to run, but just to take it very slow and steady.

I took my usual route for a Monday morning - I left the house half an hour than later so I still avoided the school run. A cloudy, but bright morning with a cool breeze. Nice.

I felt tired more than anything today. It was one of those jogs when you feel you are just shuffling along! I have got to a point now were time doesn't bother me - so no more 'oh no, I still have 20 minutes to go!' I know I can do it and generally know how far I have to run - it doesn't scare me anymore! Phew!

According to my phone I'd ran 3.83 km in 30:53 at an average pace of 8:04 /km.

I seemed to really creak when I did my stretches once I'd got home! My back aches (I have a spinal problem) so I've taken some ibuprofen. My back problems have actually been a lot better since exercising and running! I am quite pain aware, so I adjust accordingly! My next run is on Wednesday evening so I have a couple of days rest :-)

Well done, panda ;) Hopefully the two days rest will help and you'll be raring to go for r2. I bet you can smell the finish line ;) Good luck.

Thank you Paul :-) I'm sure it's just because I feel quite tired after the weekend. I really can't believe I only have 2 runs left! Whoop whoop!

You're almost there! It's great that you're at the point where you're not time watching. Good luck with your last 2 runs.

But you got out there and did it! You are so right - sometimes we just need to take it a bit more gently. Only two runs to graduation. What then , Panda?

Thank you :-) After my Race for Life in 2 weeks I would like to do some training towards 10k! I really never thought I'd be saying that! Will see how that goes and then I'll enter a local race :-) I won't put any real pressure on myself - just do what I can.

You did it. That's the main thing. It doesn't matter about speed at this stage. I think the slow and steady runs are the most enjoyable.
