After many many years as a dedicated non runner, today I completed our local fundraising fun run ! I did my 5k in 45 minutes, so there is room for improvement, but I'm seriously chuffed. For those who've just joined, I started the programme last September, and despite 2 long layoffs for a knee problem and then illness, graduated in February.
I wasn't sure I was going to manage it though. I spend the winter fighting off viral labrythitis. After 2 symptom-free months, I woke up on Thursday morning to discover the room was spinning. Spent most of Thursday and Friday lying down, felt better yesterday, and ok-ish but not 100% today. Decided to go for it anyway, as hubby had agreed to run along side me at my pace, so I figured that if I got in difficulty it would be OK.
Course was a loop round our local park. It was also the first outing for my new garmin 15, which worked beautifully.
In honour of the occasion, I've decided to add a photo. I'm the one without the beard. (pink t-shirts were provided.)
