Official opening is Monday, both pools are part of my gym, guess hubby will see even less of me and he'll get peace in the garden. This is the 50m pool, will take a while to get used to swimming in it, its a long length without a doubt
If you liked the small 25m pool I posted check... - Couch to 5K
If you liked the small 25m pool I posted check this one out its amazing 50m Olympic size - NICE
WTF.....wow!!!
Gorgeous! A
Very nice pool. You will certainly get a work out swimming the length of that big boy xxx
Hi KittyKat I have to say that swimming is my first choice every time when it comes to exercise. Its the one sport where you seldom here of injuries unless of course its through capering about. But swimmers themselves very rarely have to take time out for injury. I have been without a pool for over 18 months so I'm in 7th heaven right now, especially as I can't run.
I didn't realise that about swimming - no injuries - but what a fantastic pool to have at your disposal. I too would be there every day if I had membership. Our local pool is in the Grammar School and it's very tatty, smells a bit like wee, not pleasant at all and very limited opening hours! I'm doing Fast Exercise instead on by bike indoors. Very short but my goodness you know you've done it !
HAPPY SWIMMING!
Lovely looking pool. We have one near here that I have been to, I find it so surprising that it takes a bit more energy swimming in a 50 mtr pool. I guess you don't take into consideration the slight break as you turn round. I'm sure you will love it.
It looks fabulous, and challenging, but reminds me how much I need my exercise to involve natural light (Fortunately our public pool has a beautiful view out..)
You DO know what fish do in water????
Oh how I wish I could afford to go swimming. I really miss it.
That pool looks fab
And that's the problem these days isn't it - an average price of about £4 per swim at public pools. Pricing us all out of the water - makes Jaws look like a pet goldfish!
Yep a few years ago I used to pay for private gym membership (I'm really not a fan of public pools) because it worked out much cheaper to go for a daily swim, but then I moved and ended back in public pools but the once maybe twice a week I could afford. Then money got tight and now I am afraid being on JSA doesn't allow for luxuries like food let alone swimming. The government want people to get fit and exercise so how about making a range of options affordable
Just a thought - would your health issues qualify you for free or reduced sessions if you got a referral from GP?
Only for the gym doesn't include the pool. Our local scheme is reduced price and it's still way too expensive for me also it's only for something like 6 weeks
Damned ridiculous considering that swimming is considered the best all round exercise because the water supports the weight of the body so less chance of injury. Makes one wonder what the bl***y beaurocrats are up to most of the time.
Yep especially when I got told I really should only exercise in water at one time. It's the lowest impact works more muscles in one go great for everybody especially if recovering from injury/illness option so we are going to set up an access plan and totally ignore swimming, cause everyone can get on a cross trainer o.O
All power to you. Cheers.
Pool looks great and would make a lovely change from the bog standard 25 metre pools that are the norm nowadays. When I was a kid there was a wonderful outdoor pool about a mile from where I lived - 75 yards long by 25 yards wide (we still had proper measurements in those days). It was 3 feet deep at either end gradiating to just over 6 feet either side of the middle.....and the middle was 15 feet deep. It was surrounded by grassy areas and people used to make a day of it at weekends and school holidays. Sadly, it went the way of most old pools and was filled in and there are playing fields where once this lovely old pool used to be. If only someone with plenty of money and initiative could dig it out again, restore it and bring it back to its former glory - they just don't make them like that any more. Enjoy your swims. Best wishes.
