Everyone covers different distances, and the 5km by the end of the programme is only a guide - not everyone achieves that.

If it's any help, I've just looked back and I did just under 4km in week 4 including my warm up and warm down walks. In week 9 I was running about 5km.

BUT don't get too hung up on distances and speed at the moment. The main aim of the plan is to improve your stamina and if you go too fast you won't make it to the end of your runs - and if you worry all the time about distances and speed you might get disheartened and give up. :(

Well done for getting to W4 and enjoy the rest of the programme :)

Not sure about anyone else but by week 4 I just focused on keeping going for as long as Laura said! Thinking about it that's all I focused on right through! I tended to run the same route and it was good for morale to find each run I got further round my circuit.

As fo distance I would tyot to worry. I don't think manyay manage to runr 5 k twithin the magic 30 min. I think I was covering nearer 4.3 k.

Good luck and stick with it

For me week 4 was more a focus on getting my breathing right and making sure I didn't fall over anything!! ;) As already said don't worry about distance just yet, once you are running continuously for 25-28 minutes then you will have a better idea of your distance, there won't be many that manage the 5K in 30 minutes in the 9 weeks that's something to work on after graduation. For now just enjoy your running :)

Hi

I've just completed week 7, and I'm only covering just over 3km during the 25 minute run, but hey it's 3km more than I was able to manage at the beginning and I'm certainly not going to be acheiving 5k in the next two weeks, I wouldn't worry about it for now, it's stamina and endurance at the moment, distance will come later. I told a friend the distance I was completing and being a seasoned runner he said it was a fair distance to cover for now...

As the others have said the distance aspect will come, enjoy your running for now.

I did 3.2km on w4 (8 times round the school track). That includes warm up and cool down.

I'm on week 6 and am probably covering about 2-1/2K at the moment. I am focusing on completing each session without worrying about speed or distance. As more experienced runners have already said, above, speed and distance are things to work on after graduation. Good luck and best wishes.
