Some readers might like to know that Dr. Claire Dearden of the Royal Marsden has recorded an interview with Andrew Schorr of Patient Power videos.

I copy from one of Andrew's recent posts ' We are finally posting interviews I recorded recently in France with experts from around the world on CLL. Look for others soon with Susan, Dr. Peter Hillmen, Dr. Claire Dearden, and Dr. Barbara Eichhorst.'.

For those who had not heard, Patientpower video has an extensive list of very informative and up to date information.

.

I see that there is a 2nd clip of the Dr Susan O'Brien interview

"No More FCR? Pill Treatments for CLL Present New Options"

It does put things into perspective, one day chemo may be gone but that also depends on many socio economic factors too.

Dr Susan O'Brien does explain the new opportunities they may open within clinical trial. But explains that FCR is not dead tomorrow and discusses how treatments are likely to improve over current regimens by creating new combinations for the future.

No more FCR? Not yet.

you can watch the clip here: patientpower.info/video/no-...

"Could promising new pills for CLL mean the end of the "FCR" treatment approach? For years, many CLL patients have received this chemotherapy regimen – Fludarabine, Cyclophosphamide, and Rituximab given intravenously. With this approach come many side effects. But now, promising new oral medicines are presenting the possibility that FCR could soon be a thing of the past. Dr. Susan O'Brien from the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston gives us her view from the 9th European Congress on Hematologic Malignancies in Lyon, France."

I agree chemo may be on the way out, but before then we will likely see wider use of oral fludarbine ( fludara ) and Cyclophosphomide ( cytoxan ) and subcutaneous rituxan, a 5 minute injection in a doctor's office... FCR in a tablet bottle ...huge cost savings.

I did my FC chemo in tablet form at home and felt really isolated. If I had been that ill and in hospital, I would've had a lot more visitors and support. That's where sites like this will become even more vitally important in the future, supporting us in treatment at home.
