Does the amount of water/fluids we've been drinking before a blood test, make any difference to the results?

Maybe it's a silly question, but I often wonder if I'm a bit dehydrated before a blood test, will it make the blood more concentrated and push up numbers of blood cells, platelets etc.?

More fluid might change results very slightly...but the more water you drink the easier it is to find a vein.

All kinds of things can influence blood counts however, time of day, when you last ate, even if you ran up a flight of stairs to get to the blood clinic...

Thank you Chris. I looked up Dr. Leclairs videos too, and found them very helpful. In fact I listened to the second one three times, so I could absorb all that she said. So much to learn, with this CLL business.

Hi I am sure with the type of results you can get from blood tests they can tell you what you had for dinner the night before! I have been asked to restrict my tea/coffee intake to 6 and no more than 8 cups a day. Whereas I would have a cup of tea on the hr and every hr.
