Remission but suddenly extreme night sweats

I received the good news that I am in complete remission......no cancer cells in my blood....

but unfortunately I was just diagnosed with Gastritis due to the Venetoclax and Aciclovir.

It's very painful but after stopping all my cancer medication the stomach pains and diarrhoea

are easing off.

But now suddenly I get extreme sweating in the night.....I need to change bedding and clothe

more than ones.

Is there anyone that can give me an idea of what caused this?

I have a phone appointment with my surgery tomorrow....

Thank you in advance

Hello. I had the same issue with Gastritis related to Acala and Venetoclax. It took a couple of months to figure out as the Gastritis was giving me heart palpitations and I had to have a cardiac check to rule out that it wasn't related to cardiac toxicity from Acala. The magic fix for me was carafate. I am still taking both of my meds, but now with the carafate coating my stomach, I am no longer having symptoms. I am wondering if you could possibly have an actual infection? Also, I know as we get older, we are more sensitive to certain foods. For example, my husband who does not have CLL gets night sweats if he drinks, beer, wine, or has foods with MSG in it that day. I would call your doc to rule out an actual infection somewhere, as well as other common causes such as testosterone levels, sleep apnea, stress, hormones, medications, and infections. Have you started taking any new supplements or meds for another reason? Just some thoughts.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

😀

thank you Wonderwoman23 for your reply

Nothing in my eating has changed....I am of of any alcohol since starting with my chemo

last year.

The consultant from the haematology told me that I might have a viral infection

but only without seeing me. It was a phone call appointment.

It is strange that the sweating is worse than I ever experienced at the beginning of my CLL treatment.

I will see what my house doctor says tomorrow.

Lying on a towel is useful with the night sweats; a little more breathable than a sheet and helps absorb more of the sweat.. trust me.

Towel and uncovered feet.

And really cold 'hot water bottle' .. a comfort if making little overall difference.

This is what I already do. I also put a hand towel over my torso to protect the quilt.

Last night I took a shower before bed and it was the first night I didn't sweat.

The doctor was pleased. He is giving me a week to see if this was not a one off

and then give me another blood test.

Thank you for all your helpful tips.

I hope it passes soon.My only other thought is to take pills 2 or 3 hours before lying down, and ditto last meal of the day.

Sweats can indicate background infection - how is your neutrophil level?

Something I witter about, from time to time, Vitamin A (most of all from liver, also in standard vitamin formula 'selenium ACE') is important to functional health of mucous membranes and, presumably, the gut lining. Possibly worth a thought viz diet or supplements. NB. Beta carotene is not vitamin A, requires biochemically energetic splitting.. not one to rely upon to fix possible issue when poorly.
