Covid day four....U.K

Hi all. This sounds so stupid but I thought it was a regular cold. Just did a COVID test and it's positive. I think it maybe too late to access antivirals now? What should I do? Sorry, just a bit panicked.

Thank you in advance.

Sorry to hear you have Covid after all, Basil01.

Paxlovid works best when taken earlier but the NHS allows prescriptions up to seven days of symptoms in some circumstances so it’s worth trying to get it if you can.

The holiday break isn’t going to make it easy for you to access it in a timely manner but you definitely won’t get it if you don’t ask so I’d give it a try.

Wishing you well for a swift recovery, one way or the other.

Ring 111, and / or yr GP / CNS.

Local on call out of hours Dr's should know what todo too!

If you are on the mend, you may not need it, 111 will refer you to medically qualified tel assessment.

I did. Will be contacted by the CMDU within five(!) days. Whether or not I should take it is the really big question. Feel rough, horribly achy, sinus pain and some ear ache on and off. And the hacking cough. But not unlike the other two heavy colds I had this year which took a good seven out eight weeks to recover from.. Let's see!

Thanks for the help jig. X

Basil, read the latest guidance on what to do if we test positive for Covid. Depending on how your area works, you may not automatically be contacted by the CMDU anymore;

The advice I got was take tylenol for discomfort and ride it out!

I started Paxlovid on Day 4. Felt instantly better and tested negative by Day 8. Get it if you can
