Post Covid for a Cllier

Came down with Covid 7 days ago - like a horrid bout of flu. Managed to get anti virals sent by the hospital on the second day at 10pm- great service Chelsea and Westminster hospital. Now tested negative yesterday but still got heavy cold and sore throat and feel weak. When will it go away??

Both hubby and I have covid. Over a week since we tested positive. I had five days of Molnuprivar and I have never felt so ill. It's ten days since I had a proper meal. I need to eat but feel so nauseous. I feel weak, my night sweats started again last night and I just want to feel stronger. Sympathise with you.

Molnupiravir supposedly has nausea as a side effect. How awful for you. Were no not able to tolerate Paxlovid?

next time demand it on basis your immune system compromised and weak depends on health authority or dial 111 in UK I had no side effects

Please keep resting . I think we are supposed to isolate for 20 days (at least in the US) and I have had rebound after 8 days so don't hesitate to retest. I was given a second dose of Paxlovid when that happened and it helped. because we can take longer to recover. And do be in touch with your doctors when you feel doubts. We can share our experience, but your doctor is the one who sees so much more. Hoping you feel much better by the New Year!

I was given the same. Told I couldn’t have paxlovid due to other med complications. I feel no different. I have had severe hoarseness/ sore throat and feel fatigued. Its a nuisance but chemo was worse.

Please be aware of paxlovid (or molnupiravir) rebound— where you may test negative for a few days, then revert to positive. I think it’s more a case of antivirals suppressing the virus while taking and then it stops suppressing it when the course of treatment ends. More common with paxlovid, but I think sometimes we don’t hear a lot about molnupiravir. (Apart from it being less effective than Merck suggested, less effective when studied agains paxlovid, and highly mutagenic).

Can’t say as to when you will feel better. Some clear their symptoms rather quickly, others can have them linger for weeks/months.

A healthy friend took months to get back to feeling more like her usual self— after her doctor pronounced that she would never feel better.

Hope you are feeling better sooner than later and you don’t have to deal with any long term or post covid sequelae.

All of these comments make me feel somewhat lucky! Paxlovid had no side effects other than a bad taste in the mouth for a day. I have been fully vaccinated (multiple times) which might account for the mild Covid symptoms. I've certainly had worse colds and coughs than this. From 1st +ve test to negative was 8 days. Access to anti virals was also 1st class with delivery to the door.

Hello- Nucleusman,

I tested positive for covid on 12/17. First time with covid. Started Paxlovid on 12/18 and it worked immediately. I felt well for a few days (baking bread & light housework) and then on 12/22 started feeling extremely tired. During this time, I had three negative covid tests. I've been sick all week with worsening cough and wound up in the ER yesterday morning (12/29)- because I thought I had pneumonia- however- they told me, "your x-ray is good, your lungs are clear, but you tested positive for covid". Back on the couch. Trying to not feel badly as I'd had so many plans for these 2 weeks off from work.

many thanks for your response I am negative at the moment and have been out but still feeling a bit weak. As with CLL and various drugs we all react differently some better off than others

Got Covid 2 weeks ago, 2nd time in 3 years. Got Paxlovid 4-5 days in; no complaints w/ Pax, did a great job, though lousy taste. Wonder if u r experiencing a virologic rebound after Pax. U may have to bully it thru. Both times I had Covid I've had no appetite.

Based on my research and conversations with fellow physicians what makes most sense is to take a 10 day course of Paxlovid to irradicate the Covid as we do NOT make our own antibodies and our T cell function is not great so it seems unlikely that in CLL patients would clear the disease with only 5 days. Paxlovid appears to be better than Molnuprivar and Molnuprivar has the risk of causing genetic mutations.

also, IV Remdesevir as an outpatient for 3 consecutive days in the early stages of Covid is very effective.

I would definitely advocate for Paxlovid for 10 days and also IV Remdesevir for 3 days as well
