white blood count 110,000 is it time for treatment?

I was over 300,000 when I started and the WBC was not the trigger. Anemia was. We are all different but my understanding is the WBC count alone is not usually why a doctor recommends treatment.

Mine was 768,000... yes that's right..768 thousand....but my Hg dropped to 35 and I was still grafting on a building site ...called me in through monthly bloods for transfusion on a friday....then they started my treatment... Calquence/ Acalabrutinib.....back to work on the monday......that was 12 month ago.....No issues at all ! Don't waste your time worrying ! Enjoy life !

It's not the number of CLL cells in your blood that can trigger the need for treatment but doubling time happening in under 6 months. Counts can go several times your count before other factors develop that signify the need to start therapy healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo...

Like others have said. It depends. Mine was around 145 000 but it wasn't a trigger for treatment. It was mainly my anaemia but I also had a massive spleen, my liver was a bit enlarged, all nodes enlarged, very symptomatic, neutrophils on 0 and reoccurring infections.

If you are feeling well and your other counts are fine, you do not have to worry.

Mine hit 250,000 and I still felt fine but my hemoglobin began to dip so Dr. Wierda at MDA decided that it was time.

Thanks. I am doing great. I got 4 rounds of obinutuzamab followed by 4 years of ibrutinib and recently switched to Acalabrutinib 3 months ago.

I have been mrd- in the blood for 3 years now and I live my life well.

Don’t fret about it. Just find the best CLL expert you can and listen to them. I wasted too much time worrying about things that never happened.

I have two oncologists—my “local” one & then one at Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center & both have said they won’t be worried or jump to treat even if my white count hits 160,000 (I’m currently at 60k). So my docs agree with others on here who say WBC count is not the reason to jump to treatment.

My count was 460000 when I started first treatment after 7 years w&w. It's so long ago I can't remember exactly why I started it but it certainly wasn't the high lymph count 😊. I think my hgb started to fall too low. Other than that I was fine and felt ok. That was 10 years ago. As the others have said, we're all of course different, but here's hoping you go a long time yet before treatment.

Mine was around 180,000 and I had many symptoms before I started any treatment.

Hi

Treatment is typically based more on B cell symptoms like night sweats, unexplained fevers, extreme fatigue, unintended 10% weight loss, enlarged painful spleen or lymph nodes etc than on actual lymphocyte counts.

I was at 225,000 before treatment whereas a fellow doc and CLL patient started at 85,000.

Blood test in middle of Feb WBC 90, Lymphs 86 and had been stable since Nov. First Monday of April WBC 109, Lymphs 105. (add a k to results if you must)

I think they were more concerned about the 14cm AP x 1cm lymph node(s). I signed the release form Tuesday, was admitted Wednesday, got a bag of Obin Thursday and Friday.

The triggers for starting treatment in my case was the doubling of lymphocytes in under six months; haemoglobin and platelets going into the red! I attributed this to having had several colds, coughs and infections (including conjunctivitis) in that period but was disabused of this idea and that it was the other way round. I think we always try to find reasons when treatment is mooted. Take care of yourself Createdpath and enjoy life!
